Volunteers are the heart of the CASA program. There are ten active CASAs in Columbia County advocating for over 20 children. Volunteers undergo a minimum of 30 hours of initial training before being assigned to a case. Call 397-4988 or email casa@columbia-center.org for information.

A Board of Directors governs CASA of Columbia County, an Oregon nonprofit corporation. Its members are:

Community Partners include:

·         Columbia County Commission on Children and Families-Fiscal agent of the program providing $20,000 during the 1999-2001 biennium. It is also the fiscal agent for $47,000 that has been awarded to the program by the National CASA Association for the 2000/01 biennium.

·         Samuel S. Johnson Foundation-Provided $1,000 for volunteer training and Board development.

·         St. Helens School District-Providing office space.

·         Department of Human Resources-Providing criminal background checks and insurance coverage for volunteers.

·         Weyerhauser-Providing donations of copy paper.

·         Youth Service Teams-Providing community-based multi-disciplinary, multi-agency social service coordination.
